04/Textbook Interior Designs
Included are images of interior designs completed for large educational publishers Houghton Mifflin and Addison Wesley. While these are separate interior designs for different books, the design needs were mostly the same. The directive was to continue the themes of earlier editions while giving them an updated and visually dynamic look. This was done by including more photography, by using elements that break the grid, and by establishing a clear hierarchy among the different features. The desired results are a more attractive book that doesn’t sacrifice accessibility or readability. One design constraint that proved to help add discipline to my methods was the fact that whatever design element I devised had to be easily reproducible and scalable for the benefit of the outsourced production team to be able to fit the needs of every instance of that feature throughout the book.
